I grew up in the gardens of Varina and King William, Virginia. For as long as I can remember, everyone in my family had a garden, and there were always extras to share. With my family in North Carolina, I dug sweet potatoes and grew squash. Across Virginia and North Carolina, I worked in chicken, hog and turkey houses, barned tobacco, and did restoration and curtain work on farm houses. So I know how much work farming is. I also know how hard it is to do all that work and then still have to find a way to get it to market. That's why I started American Share Market: so farmers and makers can sell straight to their neighbors and keep 100% of what they earn.
